Our arts and crafts area is the one space we use the most. We are there for hours everyday, either playing with playdough, doing some sort of sensory play or drawing and crafting away.

But lately, it has been hard to find the things we need. Let me show you…

And um, I’m a little embarrassed to show you guys this, but our art and crafts storage is getting a little out of hand. And by that, I mean it’s REALLY REALLY messy. Everything is everywhere and I have been avoiding cleaning it. Just take a look but don’t judge!

We had been using a metal cart organizer which was great when we first got it. It fit most of our things but when we were done a craft, or done playing with things, everything would just get stuffed into a random drawer and it got messy fast.

I looked around for different ways to fix our organizer but didn’t know what would work, until I came across the Cubby from create room! I was pretty excited about this as it is from the same company who makes the DreamBox. If you haven’t heard of the DreamBox, it is a crafters DREAM! One day – I will own one of these and just craft away without worries.

But for now, the Cubby is my new best friend. Just look how pretty it is! Plus, it is super functional, let me show you!

After some purging, look at everything that I had to find a home for. Would it fit well into the Cubby? Keep reading and see!

Look at this!!

Not only did everything fit, now we can easily see all of our arts and craft tools and they are all accessible to the kids. They can pull out the drawers they need (bonus, the whole thing can come out too and be placed on the table for easier access).

Here’s a quick peek of how I organized all of our things:

  • the wide clear flat drawers fit all of our coloring books, activity books, paper and construction paper and more
  • the deeper drawers were perfect for organizing all of our small various tools, the cubby comes with dividers so you can choose to either use the full drawer, separate it into 2 sections or 3. As you can see, the playdough drawers we kept to one big empty space, whereas with the markers, crayons and pencils, we chose to divide it to keep everything separated
  • I love love love these drawers. They are clean and so easy to organize. We can pull the whole thing out and place it on the table when the kids are drawing or painting. The dividers make sure everything stay clean instead of us just throwing things back into one big drawer.

I also love how it cleans up our area – less is more and this definitely looks way better than what we had used before. I am so happy with how this turned out and the kids are loving it.

If you are struggling with some organization, I highly recommend checking out the cubby! (Don’t forget to use my code to get $50 off! – LEARNINGFROMPLAYINGCUBBY)
