We love the book “The Very Hungry Caterpillar”, and since it has been such a hit lately, we made a lacing activity that works perfectly with the theme! This is a simple DIY activity to prep and you likely have everything you need already!
To make this, you will need:
- Cardboard
- Scissors
- The very hungry caterpillar cutouts (I found some on google images and printed them out)
- Yarn
- Packing tape
Simply cut out the food and tape them onto the cardboard.
Then cut out small holes in each item to match the book.
Next, I taped a piece of yarn to the end of my caterpillar and that was it!
Watch the below video from my Instagram to see how I made this!
Lacing activities are great for toddlers to practice their fine motor skills. It requires a lot of hand eye coordination and finger muscle to weave the caterpillar through the holes. This is a quick DIY activity that will help your little ones practice this skill all while enjoying the theme of the book! Help the hungry caterpillar eat his way through all the desserts.
