- orange construction paper
- scissors
- tape

Tip: tape the face down to a table or wall to make it easier for them to cut
Scissor skills is important as it helps develop so many things and is also a precursor to writing. Some of the benefits include:
- Hand eye coordination – they must focus on where they are cutting
- Bilateral coordination – being able to use both sides of the body (one hand to hold the paper and the other to cut)
- Fine motor skills – using fingers to open and close the scissors
- Builds hand strength – again from moving fingers to open and close
- Lengthens focus and attention – builds up this important skill which will allow for independent play
