Do you need a quick activity to keep your toddler busy? Try this! You probably have all the materials at home already:

  • cheerios
  • uncooked spaghetti
  • playdough

Simply roll out some playdough, break the spaghetti in half and stick it into the playdough. Pour out a bowl of cheerios and THATS IT!

Have your toddler slide the cheerios onto the spaghetti to build towers. This simple activity is great for so many different learning:

  • Fine motor skills – by picking up the cheerios with their little fingers and turning it to the right angle so that it can slide down the spaghetti, they are working on strengthening their fine motor skills which will help with writing and so many other things down the road
  • Hand eye coordination – the cheerio fits just right over the spaghetti so they need to put it in just the right spot to get it on
  • Focus and concentration – building towers requires their attention and focus to continuously add more cheerios to build taller towers
  • Counting – count each cheerio and see how high they can get!
  • Language – talk about which tower is the tallest, which is shortest, how many cheerios do they have, which one did they build first?
