This one’s a favorite for both my daughter and I, because it is an activity you can prep ahead of time!
All you need are a few simple ingredients and you can make a bunch of these fun fizzy shapes for play.
- 2.5-3 cups of Baking Soda
- 2 tbsp Dish Soap
- 0.5 cups of Water
- Food coloring (optional)
- Silicone mold (optional)
Start with mixing the water with dish soap and food coloring (if you want it colored). Then slowly pour a bit of this liquid mixture into a bowl with baking soda and mix until it forms into a paste. You may have some liquid leftover, add more baking soda if the mixture looks too wet. What you are looking for is a thick enough consistency to form a ball and hold its shape.
You can then either spoon some onto your hand and roll into a ball, or scoop and press into a silicone mold. Let it dry overnight and you are ready for play! I like to pop these into a large bowl or tray and then give my toddler some squeeze bottles (post partum peri bottles work so good for this!) filled with vinegar, food coloring and water. (the water helps extend the vinegar).
I also store any extras I made in a ziploc bag so I can easily pull them out when we need an activity to keep her busy.
Enjoy the fizzy fun!
